Videos Online

These are a great technological tool. I can see many uses that our library could adopt videos online for - storytime, intructional (catalogue, reserving, renewing online etc), presentation of local history, oral histories and many more.
It would just be a matter of waiting for the library service to purchase a good quality video/digital camera.

Here's a couple that i found that we all could say we could sometimes only wish.....

Wikis - To use or not to use? - that is the question

I think that Wikis are a spectacular idea - but not for a work environment. I can see library groups using them ie, youth groups, bookclubs ....

The wikis that I have had a look at are fantastic, but i think there are other technologies that are much more suited to a work environment.

RSS - Real Simple Syndication

These are fantastic - letting the news come to you....
without you having to search all the time for updates .... YAY!!!
Sites that I selected for the RSS reader were
State Library of NSW - family history and manuscripts for oral history recently added to State Library Catalogue
Ancestory.com
Powerhouse Museum
and a couple for individual interest gardening/collecting etc.

This technology can help library's, in many ways. If a specialist library or a certain job position (family historian) - less work for searching for updates etc.

How cute, but how right..... if it were legal, every man and his dog would be getting a library card.

Web 2.0 Great Training

This is going to be amazing, learning all about new technologies that all these youngsters are using these days.
Not being able to assist the younger generation in these technologies is a worry.
But believe it - The State Library of New South Wales has come the the rescue..... YAY...
I feel like an oldie (I use to know the newest technologies all the time), but life got in the way, and I have fallen behind.
Thank you State Library for this opportunity, I really look forward to completing Web 2.0
